Frequently asked questions.
When are check in/check out times?
Check in is at 3:00 pm daily. Out of respect for other guests who may be settled in for the evening, the latest you may check in is 10:00 pm.
Check out is at 11:00 am daily. We understand that there are occassions where you may want to check out later, however, unlike a hotel, we have limited rooms, and limited time to turn over rooms for the next wave of guests. Thank you for your understanding!
Where do we park?
Please park your vehicle (one per reservation) in the S Lot adjacent to the house and overlooking the river. There are S Lot laminated passes on the desk just inside the front door of the house. Keep this on your dashboard during your stay and please return it to the desk when you leave. If you have more than one car, please use the 4th street SCSU parking ramp, two blocks over.
Is the whole house ours to use?
No. The living and dining room, and the 3 season porch are all common areas where you may visit with other guests also staying at the Brower House. Owners, Cheri and Dan, also live on site and are available to assist with making your stay comfortable, but mostly stay out of your way unless you seek them out for a quick chat; don’t be shy! Dan loves to share the history of the house with fellow history buffs.
Can we cook food there?
Guests do not have access to the kitchen, but can find a microwave and coffee pot in the dining area. There is also a mini fridge in Room B and Room C. Dan and Cheri make flavored coffee every morning, and from time to time will also provide muffins and fruit for breakfast. If you prefer, there is also a Starbucks 1/2 mile away!
Is the river safe to swim in?
We provide life jackets for all water sports, and we recommend you refrain from swimming in a river with a strong current and a dam .5 miles south of the house. We do ask you to complete a liability form priot to walking the stairs to the river and partaking of any of the water activities.
How far from the Minneapolis airport are you?
We are approximately 75 miles from the airport in Minneapolis. We highly recommend using Groome Transportation for getting to and from. They drop off 1/2 block from our front door at the SCSU Atwood Center. Easy peasy, and cheaper than an Uber.
What is there to do in the area?
Our guests say it;s so peaceful here, that they never realized we are located less than a mile from downtown St Cloud, an easy walk to restaurants and entertainment. We recommend checking out Visit Greater St. Cloud for options. Some of our favorite things include taking in a concert at The Ledge Outdoor Amphitheater, ordering appetizers and drinks at Ye Olde Brick House (the Rueben Wontons are the best!), hiking and swimming at Quarry Park, enjoying a growler at Beaver Island Brewery, or purchasing tickets to a show at the Paramount Arts Center. You can also kayak across the river to Munsinger Gardens, or canoe up the river to Wilson Park. On Saturdays, you’ll find us at the Wright County Flea Market - worlds largest and best!
Do you allow pets?
We love animals, but due to owning two dogs of our own, we cannot allow other animals onsite. Our pups, Brower and Lolli, are a Lab and Corgi/Terrier who are super friendly and mild mannered, and might occassionally greet our guests at the door, begging for a tummy rub or a game of tugs. But no worries, we kennel them at night and also when we’re away from the house.
